Cracked-Out Fiend
To society’s knowledge, celebrities are all about glitz and glamour. They are seen on red carpets, television, magazines, and so much more. A celebrity is a well known person that may be seen as a role model. They could be foreseen as role models because they are always in the spotlight and always exposed within the media. With this exposure, these celebrities want to portray a self image that is favorable by society; they want society on their side. However, that is not always the case. The media can cause an individual to go beyond their comfort zone and become a totally different person. Lindsay Lohan was the American Dream of television. She began showbiz at the tender age of three and her career began to prosper furthermore. She became an actress and a singer. Once Lindsay became wrapped into the negative effect of media, she began to abuse alcohol and started drugs.
Reflection
After writing my first draft, I felt very confident in my results. However, after submitting my draft, it appeared to be unclear to the instructor. It was constructed by comparing a celebrity to real life issues. In comparison to my first draft of the first essay, I felt more confident than ever before. I believe that I stated the obvious and had a clear and concise point of view. I showed the negative side effects of children and society. Lindsay Lohan became first pick for human interest. After peer review, I didn’t have any negative feedback, so I felt as if I was headed in the right direction, being that it caught the attention of college students. The grade of my previous essay gave me inspiration to do a better job, however that did not happen. It was not hard at all for me to create a thesis statement, however I found it difficult to transition correctly and end my paper. The research was a piece of cake. With all the wiki postings, it made it much easier to cite the sources as well. The first essay was a little harder for me. This essay I believed was easier because I could refer to an actual person who was going through the issues in which I was discussing. After doing discussion 5, I had a better view on what the instructor expected and I tried my best to meet those expectations. I thought I did a pretty decent job, but received a grade of a D. It hurt a lot, mainly because I’m a good writer and things are beginning to take a turn for the worse. With this essay, I tried to be more emotional in the writing by giving details that were sensitive to talk about that a lot of Americans face today, such as drug abuse, domestic violence, and divorce. After receiving the grade that I did, I think my best writings are strictly research papers because everything else seems not to favor my professor’s likings.
