How Society Affects Children

Society affects children in a majority of ways. Bullying, divorce, and the media can all play a part in the development of a child. There are certain precautions that an one can take as the parent to make sure that their child does not undergo a drastic change that’s affected by society. There are ways to prevent negative development in order to better the child’s future, however, there are contrasting ways to go about things that could lead in a different path for the child.
Bullying affects the child’s emotional stability. It causes stress towards the child and causes the child to be non responsive in class. The child zones out in class and the teacher can confuse this behavior with AD/ADHD, but actually, the child suffers from some sort of trauma (Dr. Regelina, How Bullying Affects Our Children). To relieve this stress, it’s best to consult the bully or even have a conference with the bully’s parents and the victim. If all else fails, rearrangement of classes are possible and even counseling, if necessary.
Divorce affects the child as well. It has an anxiety affect on the child. The child has to deal with the fact that his/her parents are now apart. He/she feels as if a part of their life has vanished.

Reflection

After writing my first draft, I felt very confident in my results. However, after submitting my draft, it appeared to be unclear to the instructor. It was constructed by comparing and contrasting the different ways society affect young children. I used topics such as, divorce, media, and bullying to best do so. I compared and contrasted the effects of divorce towards children if parents stayed together or whether or not the separated, and so forth. With the draft being unclear, I made changes to better suit the essay. I used more examples and corrected grammatical errors. After peer review, I felt confident because the students understood where I was coming from and how I wanted the paper to be perceived. My instructor, Karen Morris influenced me the most to make revisions to my paper mainly because it was unclear to her. It disheartened me because I believe I’m a good writer and my opinions weren’t too appeasing to her. When thinking of my initial topic, it was quite difficult due to the fact that I was a little confused on the expectations. Once I did come up with a topic, it wasn’t too hard for me to come up with a thesis. The research was abundant, however there wasn’t much on divorce, media, and bullying; however, those were the ones that caught my eye. In my writing I feel well on my research and the organization, but I do feel I need more work on capturing my audience instead of myself. Working on the wikis were great! They helped me grasp my central idea and cite them correctly. The opinions that came from my wikis were about the same as my essay. I believe that my topic was deeper as opposed to broad because I focused on different divisions within society versus society as a whole.
